About

Broken Toy Hero is the inspirational story of Pheonix The Toy’s struggle with being mistreated and how she rises up to overcome the pain and change the lives of other toys & kids around her. Youth face many difficult and painful situations today. It is important that we reach them at an early age to inspire them through the difficult times that lay ahead, while teaching them principles that will guide them through the tough times so they can achieve the greatness that they deserve. Broken Toy Hero is designed to inspire children that they can overcome the tough times in life and teach them 4 solid truths to walk in everyday so that they can achieve greatness. The story will also help children to be sensitive to the struggles of others and motivated to help them also.

Testimonials

As the mother of 2 abused children (from a previous marriage), this book is perfect. I looked for ways to explain to my children how to move on and forgive. It's super hard to explain to children (8 and 6) why you always be nice even when people are mean and why it is always important to help people. I wish with all my heart this book was out years ago!!!! If your child struggles, bullied, abused, or is just different, THIS book and this message I believe will help. It helps teach out children how to cope and how to become the best person they can be! it's truly inspiring and EVERY house should have this.

Broken Toy Hero is the tool you have been waiting on to help empower kids to overcome tough situations in life. Sometimes as adults we may struggle with having the right words that kids need to hear especially during difficult times. This book does it for you while completely engaging kids into the story of Phoenix, the toy hero! It’s not just for those difficult times in life though, this book inspire kids from all walks of life to do great things! As the director of a nonprofit organization who works with children, it is my goal and the mission that I am personally working towards to get this book into the hands of every young child that I can! This is a book that can literally transform lives and inspire our young people!

I purchased the “Broken Toy Hero” book to give my grandchildren for Easter. Before giving them the book, I read it first. It truly blessed my heart. I was a “Phoenix” growing up and felt afraid and alone. As the Book read: No matter how broken you are and no matter how hard life is you can change, and you can be good! I loved the message the book is telling us: Never give up, always do the right thing, help others and never be a bully. What a special book to share with everyone young and old. John thank you for giving us the book to share. Together we can make the world a better place.

I’m a special education teacher and read this book to my students. The values this book teaches is very important to me to instill in my students as they are different and at times may feel broken. The four points were amazing and the illustrations were amazing, but in all this book is amazing for all children to learn that it’s ok to be broken. Mr Buckland has created a wonderful tool that could help lots of children cope with everyday life.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working in the field for over 20 years. The majority of my time in practice has been spent focused on helping children of all backgrounds overcome issues from complex trauma to family, social and academic struggle. I have known the author of this book, John Buckland, for several years and have had the opportunity to work along side him as he provided messages of hope and strength to children. This book is an extension of his skill, and excellent resource for helping kids gain a sense of empowerment to overcome a variety of life’s challenges. Whether you are a parent, an educator, or a mental health professional, I highly recommend adding this to your library and sharing it with the children you care for.

John visited our school today and read his new book to our preschool class. Our students absolutely loved it! The book was very inspiring; the perfect tool for teaching morals, friendship and kindness! Our 3 and 4 year olds were very attentive as the story was read to them and loved the beautiful illustrations! I highly recommend this book! It was all our students talked about all day!!

The Huntington Mall is very excited to bring John back to the mall with his very timely and needed book! We are sharing this empowering book with our customers this summer during our first Story Walk! With so many children affected during this Pandemic this book has a very needed message for those little ones who may not know how to express their feelings about what they are going through. This book gives them an outlet and a resource to help them through hard times. We are excited to purchase 100 of these books for the story walk to get them immediately in the hands of children. Great job! Margi MacDuff

Broken Toy Hero is an amazing story that will impact alot of live's. As we have been many places working as evangelists, we can see how this can help reach many kids that are hurting in this world. We really liked the four steps of greatness. May it impact many lives as it's handed out, children as well as adults.

I read it!! Definitely brought tears to my eyes. Made me stop and look at myself and think how it’s so easy to be bitter with situations in life. I don’t want to be that person. I want to make a difference. I want to be there for people that have been through things that I have been through. I can’t wait to read it to my little boy tonight. Thank you! I will definitely pass it around and leave a review!!
